FROM DOORMATS TO DOOR POSTS

In October 2024, I heard the Lord say to me, “From doormats to doorposts.” I kept hearing this phrase repeatedly during that time and sensed that it was for a specific group of leaders. Then, throughout January, I continued to hear the same phrase again.

I’ll be honest: at first, this sounded quite harsh to me because I know that doormats are typically known to be stepped on and trampled. However, as a metaphor, I believe God was showing me that this was about people who had felt overlooked despite knowing He had positioned them in certain places to serve.

In contrast, doorposts are made to stand firm, supporting doorways and gateways — entry points to rooms, places and spaces. They are the essential upper and vertical parts of a doorframe.

Here’s the thing: doormats can easily be replaced. Door posts are typically built in to stay.

These people are not shifting away from their call to serve, but rather shifting in their positioning in how they serve. They are not just natural leaders but they are also intercessors and burden-carriers — people whose strength others lean or depend on.

While some have been praying for open doors, others have been in a season of preparation in the secret place — where they have been moulded to become vessels who partner with God in creating open doors. These are the pillars and gatekeepers anointed to establish, build, innovate and pioneer. They are the links, connectors and ‘destiny helpers’ that others are praying for. They hold a vital part of the blueprint for this next season and what God is preparing to accomplish.

Some of you are waiting on God for doors that don’t exist yet.

I heard the Lord say, “I am the Doorkeeper of your destiny.” I believe this is an encouragement for many of you. A doorkeeper is someone who stands at an entryway and decides who can enter in. They guard the door. God cares about the fulfillment of your destiny even more than you do. He is the Doorkeeper of your destiny, meaning, He is the Author and Finisher of your faith.

Don’t give in to the temptation to push on doors that are not ready to be opened yet. Don’t rush into opportunities that seem promising but won’t fully deliver what God has prepared for you. In this season, God is bringing deep clarity, confirmation and restoration to many who have been longing to hear His voice — especially those who have felt as though they haven’t been able to for some time.

Some doors will open for you in the most unlikely places. Not only that — I hear the Lord saying, “I’m going to put a smile on your face.” Waiting on God can bring discomfort, and at times, deep frustration. At just the right moment, He will open the right doors for you. He will lead you into all that He has prepared and promised.

“The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.”

— Revelation 3:12

“I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.”

— Isaiah 22:22

“You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.”

— Luke 1:45
